Leaderboard Update – after Round 8 Results
4 Rounds of the Barbeques Galore Australian Barbecue Championships were held in the space of 10 days in late February to early March.
Grand Champions Country Boys BBQ and Reserve Grand Champions Aussie Pit Boys took on the Kiwis on their home turf at Meatstock Auckland and came away victorious.
A huge shout to the Kiwis who certainly gave the Aussie teams a run for their money in their first-ever ABA Sanctioned competition. 36 Teams competed with 32 first-time New Zealand teams who handed in some spectacular barbecue.
Competitions in Orange, Perth and Gosford saw nearly 50 teams compete in 3 competitions in 2 States in 48 hours, a new record for the ABA and competition barbecue in Australia. Shouts to:
Grand Champions Grilla Bees and Reserve Grand Champions Whisper Hills Smokers scorched the field in the 40 degree heat to take out the WA Cider & Pork Festival, Perth.
With 20+ more barbecue competitions to come in the 2017 series and a handful of event yet to be announced, Australia now has one of the largest domestic barbecue championships in the world.
The 2017 series made possible by the support and participation of Barbeques Galore, ABA registered competing Teams, Event Promoters, ABA Gold & Supporting Partners and of course the volunteer ABA Competition Crew who make it happen so consistently on the ground.
