Judges Course and Qualifying
The ABA is holding it’s second Judges Qualifying in Melbourne at the BBQ Plus Port Melbourne Store Monday September 1st, starting 6.30pm (will take roughly an hour). Judges will be trained and accredited by Jess Pryles, the ABA Head Judge.The course is a great way for enthusiasts to learn about competition barbecue, and also qualifies them for a full year as an ABA judge. Teams may also like to do the course to gain a better understanding of what judges are looking for.

ABA Members dinner
Chris Terlikar (who trained under Evan Leroy from Freedmen’s in Austin) has recently opened Bluebonnet BBQ in a brick and mortar location. He has generously offered to open on a Monday night for an exclusive ABA dinner – a great chance for members and newly accredited judges to meet up and have a chat and a beer over some barbecue. The dinner will take place after the judges course, but all members are welcome to attend. Dinner is $42pp for a huge pile of meat and some sides, brisket and beef rib amongst the meaty pleasures served. Please RSVP your attendance as it’s strictly bookings in advance and places are limited.
