The Australasian Barbecue Alliance has previously adjusted the qualifying format of the Barbeques Galore National Barbecue Championship Series to deal with the uncertain nature that is the world-wide Covid-19 Pandemic.

The ABA thanks all Promoters who have been working away in the background to try and bring events to the last half of the calendar 2020 year.

It has become evident that even with the best intentions and behind the scenes support from Promoters associated with the Championship Series in Australia, that it has been difficult to deliver contests that meet the current Government restrictions.

Pending borders re-opening and the further relaxation of some restrictions, the ABA fully expects a full and accessible calendar of contests in 2021.

In consultation with Championship Series Major Sponsors Barbeques Galore, the ABA has made the decision to extend the current 2020 season, to finalise in December 2021.

All Barbeques Galore Leaderboard points already accrued by teams during the 2020 Season will carry forward into 2021.

A National Barbecue Grand Champion Team and National Rankings for Teams will be announced around December 2021 at the conclusion of the extended season.

The ABA thanks everyone associated with the National Championship Series for their support, patience and understanding and very much looks forward to a much more active and exciting calendar year 2021.
